In conclusion, Ayatollah Abtahi explained on the issue of donation and stated, “The meaning of donation in Arabic that is Infaaq (انفاق) and has root in Nafaq (نفق) is to part or divide something. For example, you have worked today and got some money. Some part of the earned money is to spend for your own essential expenses and for those whom you have their responsibilities. You also put aside some part of money for charity. This way of dividing is called donation (Infaaq). Put aside some part of money and spend it at anywhere that is advisable by the Al-Mighty. In general, whatever that you own, even your wealth, properties, bodies, and your dresses, are really not your belongings but the Al-Mighty Has made you only guardians for those things. It doesn’t belong to you; however, you have authority over it and if you disagree, just think that if you die tonight, how can you keep it for your tomorrow. So, You only are the guardians of whatever that you temporarily own and you have to be careful to keep it safely. A qualified guardian is the one who protects an endowed property in the best possible way and to spend it’s income totally for that property except some part of the income that he is allowed to take as his salary. There are two aspects for donation: The necessary donation, and the recommended donation. The necessary donation is that to your wife and children that you must provide them with a convenient life. You are in that case free to donate it if any extra money was left. Imam Saadeq (AS) states: ان لا يري العبد فيما خوله الله اليه ملكا يرون المال مال الله يضعونه حيث امرهم الله A true servant of God is the one who spends his money at anywhere that is loved and/or commanded by Allah while s/he doesn’t feel of any ownership to her/his wealth. The third issue that is emphasized in these holy verses of Qur’an is in concern with the obstructions that you may encounter in the path to the Al-Mighty and you have to remove them all. In some cases, the driver is familiar with the road, and has a safe car as well, but there are several big stones in his way that would really hinder him. In these holy verses, the Al-Mighty Has pointed out some of those obstructions. First, The wealth and properties: A person in the path to Allah must avoid any feel of ownership over his wealth. Do not wipe out your wealth but employ it for your spiritual advancements that the Al-Mighty States: وَ جَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَ أَنْفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ Tawbah # 40 : And strive hard in Allah's way with your property and your persons; this is better for you, if you know. Spend your money in the way of Allah. The first place is for those whom you necessarily must spend. Then for the cases that are recommended. The next hindrance can be your wife and your children that you have to make them ready to follow what you follow. In the event that is related to the holy verse of “Hal Ataa”, the master Imam Ali (AS) didn’t ask his family to donate, but the lady Fatima, Imam Mojtabaa, and Imam Hossein (AS) feed the poor, the orphan, and the captive absolutely on their own decision. Try to build up your wife and children in such a way that they do not hinder your advancements. Stay away from anything that might take you into negligence. We hope that all of you succeed to reflect on these points and to get to the higher levels in the right path”. |
